Parinaz (parinaz Eleish) Eleish (nee Parinnaz Gharagozloo) is a painter and a poet.
Parinaz tells us: “I was born in Tehran from an Iranian mother and an Egyptian father. I studied in Iran and Switzerland and moved to the US to attend university. I attended Emerson college , School of the Museum of Fine Arts and University of New Hampshire and received my bachelor of fine arts in film production and painting, a masters in film and a masters in English writing (poetry). I have published my poetry in various publications and an anthology of Iranian diaspora poetry. I live in Boston with my husband and have two daughters.
My studio is in Brighton Ma. I exhibit my work in Boston, Tehran and Connecticut. I usually work on series based on topics that inspire me rather than what the trend of the day might be.
Having been educated in different artistic disciplines has been an opportunity. To approach my work as a painter using the knowledge I have gained in my trainings as a writer is a fascinating process. It is the application of this knowledge in order to create in a different medium, that is the exciting journey. The creative process in fact is what is exciting in any artistic pursuit. It is the transformation of an emotion into an actual artistic work that interests me. The intellectual thought process is only grasped if the viewer or an audience is touched by that raw feeling that cannot be contained or described. The journey is sometimes overwhelming; a road full of self-doubt and wonder; but creating a thing of beauty is, after all, what drives me as an artist.
When I do not work, I enjoy reading, traveling, sports and dance and above all spending time with my family and friends. In the past 5 years I have been lucky to have participated in fundraising for the OMID Foundation.”
