Biography
Sarvnaz Alambeigi is an Iranian filmmaker, visual artist, and poet whose work explores themes of identity, resilience, and the complexity of the human condition. She graduated from Graphic Art School and holds a bachelor's degree in Painting, and has enhanced her documentary filmmaking skills through various specialized courses and prestigious international film labs, including the Danish Film School and the Master School Documentary Campus.
She began her artistic career in 2000 with a solo painting exhibition in Tehran. Her visual artworks have since been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions both in Iran and abroad, including in Germany (notably in Düsseldorf), where they were well received by critics and audiences alike.
In 2013, she founded her own film company, Rabison Art. Her films, such as 1001 Nights Apart (2021) and Maydegol (2024), have been screened and awarded at numerous international festivals, including Special Mention awards at Berlinale, Saxon awards in Leipzig, and VFF awards in Munich. They have also been shown at the Tokyo International Film Festival, Shanghai, Sarajevo, and São Paulo, earning widespread critical acclaim.
Her work has been broadcast on platforms such as Arte, reaching diverse international audiences. Sarvnaz’s films are known for their poetic storytelling and innovative fusion of documentary and personal narrative.
She is an active member of the Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association and the European branch of the International Documentary Association (IDA). She has also served as a jury member at several international film festivals, including the Osnabrück Film Festival and Sunny Side of the Doc, underscoring her respected role in the global documentary community.
With a multidisciplinary background in painting and poetry, Sarvnaz explores culture, human behavior, and the inner life of individuals through a deeply personal lens.
