Biography
Marjan Nemati was born in Tehran, Iran in 1981. Nemati predominantly works in the medium of painting and her Latest series, Memorabilia focus on the urban historic architecture and its relation to collective memory. Her BA in Painting was received from Azad University in Tehran in 2004. Subsequent to that she completed her MA degree in Illustration at the Tehran University in 2007. Nemati’s MA thesis, Comic Books is published by Nazar Art Publications with an introduction by award-winning Illustrator Mr. Farshid Mesghali in 2014. She has held solo exhibitions at Golestan Gallery (2010, 2014, 2017) and Banafsheh Gallery (2002) in Tehran. Her works has been exhibited in a variety of national and international art galleries and museums since 2001. She was selected as Magic of Persia Foundation artist in residence at the Parasol Unit foundation for contemporary arts in London in 2015, where she continued her research on conceptual aspects of her work. She currently lives and works in Tehran, Iran.
