Object/Painter" marks the intersection of painting and sculpture within a novel space. This exhibition presents a collection of three-dimensional works by artists who, while rooted in the world of color and canvas, transcend its limitations to shape space itself. Navigating the duality of painting and sculpture, they challenge traditional boundaries, seeking to define the relationship between two-dimensional and three-dimensional realms. In Iranian art, image and object have never been entirely separate entities, and in recent decades, artists have adopted a more conscious approach to this relationship. Sculpture for the artists in this exhibition is not a parallel line but rather an extension of their painterly vision.
The works in this exhibition have been placed together with an inherently site-specific approach, engaging in a dynamic conversation with the architecture and aura of the space. Instead of paintings serving as the primary lens through which to understand the artists' practice, sculptures take center stage. The arrangement demands more than a cursory glance from the viewer, compelling them to slow down and engage with the space in a more measured way. While paintings remain part of the artists' overall expression, they are presented as a potential complement to the sculptures, leaving the audience to decide how they interact. The forms are created not just to be seen but to be experienced and through this experience, "Object/Painter" becomes a place where the canvas extends into the expanse of space, and the viewer, an active participant in the unfolding narrative.
