Rust

Painting, solo exhibition

29 Nov 2024 - 13 Dec 2024

Statement

My paintings are reflections of the unconscious mind's journeys into a realm of memories that have never been clearly recalled but have lingered deep within me. These memories, like rust on an old metal object exposed to moisture for years, appear in a different form and at a different time, worn, stained, yet rich in meaning.

The mind, with all its complexities, is not only a repository of recorded events but also a raw canvas for recording emotions that seep through the experiences of life. Rust is a metaphor for me of the endless erosion that time inflicts on thoughts and feelings. In the intertwined and fragmented lines and colors, I strive to depict layers of this erosion and decay. Stains that secretly harbor a deep and vibrant meaning.

My works are an attempt to open doors to a past that may have never happened and a future that is taking shape. In this process, what is forgotten or deformed is somehow reconstructed and brought back to life. Each splash of color, each uneven layer, and each broken line is a metaphor for a mind oscillating between reconstruction and forgetting. This exhibition is an invitation for the viewer to immerse themselves in a mental world and experience time and memory in an endless flow. Ultimately, the boundaries between past and present, reality and imagination are broken, and only traces of what is remembered remain.
