The idea of a “language of the birds” has very ancient roots, dating back to pre-Islamic times—apparently to the era of Solomon and the legends surrounding his life. In medieval literature, it was regarded as a symbolic and mystical language. In the folk tales of countries such as Russia, Germany, Greece, and others, birds were often depicted as beings endowed with secret knowledge, revealing hidden treasures to heroes.
This collection is a contemporary allegory of the Journey of the Birds, portraying the sorrows and sufferings of our own age.
