Dastan’s Basement is pleased to announce the opening of Ghasemi brothers’ collaborative exhibition “Red Room” on July 1, 2016. The exhibition will be open for public viewing through July 16. The works of Ghasemi brothers have been featured in a number of solo and group shows at Dastan.
As part of Dastan’s planning for a number of collaborative projects, including a project by Mamali Shafahi and Mimi Amini, this show by Ghasemi brothers features works that have been executed as a collective effort. Following a collaboration for Reza Aramesh’s “Centrefold Project” where the trio worked on a single artwork together, the brothers decided to work on a series of collaborative works to be shown at Dastan. Each work started with a different experience, sometimes using artworks from one of the brothers as a base and sometimes starting with a more open blank canvas.
The trio worked both in a shared studio in Bandar Anzali and their personal spaces in Tehran and experimented with color, form and the very core aspects of their shared creativity, producing works that came as “unexpected surprises” for them.
