Based between Berlin & Tehran, Hodaei's tapestries like paintings have a distinctive look and have been part of solo and group exhibitions in Europe, USA, UAE, Asia, and Australia. The artist uses oil & glass paints to dab them directly from the tube onto the canvas. Through that; Hodaei’s paintings emerge from the pixel-like dots; a unique blend that distinguishes the artist’s work.
After several residencies in Switzerland Hodaei moved to Berlin in 2017. As an artist in residence in Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Hodaei began to experiment with installations. With Cinema Europe Hodaei tells the tale of existence on the black screen. The dialogue that Hodaei seeks to trigger around and through her work takes a much wider stand with moving her work from Swiss galleries and international art fairs to the public realm the first installation, Presence of Absence, having taken place in Iran.
