Chapter NY is pleased to announce Passing through Alborz Range in 3’ 20”, Asal Peirovi’s first exhibition with the gallery and her first solo exhibition in the United States. The exhibition features a new series of unstretched paintings that interlace facets of nature and architecture derived from the artist’s memory.
The title of the exhibition references Peirovi’s commute by train to visit her family in Northern Iran while she was attending school and living in Tehran. The paintings in the exhibition depict imagined landscapes and architectural elements inspired by blurred and fragmented views observed through the window of a speeding train. Made during the past year amidst lockdowns and travel restrictions that prevented the artist from visiting her family, this body of work emphasizes the passageways and spaces that connect us to loved ones and nostalgically recalls the feeling of returning home.
