Why hast thou suddenly cast away thy veil?
Shohreh Mehran has always born witness to our city. She used to veil and hide the corners of Tehran, so that we would imagine what we could not see, and thus see it, through the prism of imagination, more sharply.
This time, however, the shrouds are lifted. The subject, slipping yet assertive, is now everything in the frame. It is the city that has disappeared. What has this city done to us to deserve this erasure?
