O Gallery presents "The Sail", Ali Rezvani’s (b. 1993 Tehran) second solo show with the gallery.
Life and work in the studio used to be a place of refuge for Ali Rezvani for years, shielding him from the anxieties of the outside world. It was a closed but safe space where he could contemplate the objects surrounding him and carefully depict them. However, gradually this sanctuary turned into a prison, and the tranquility of the past was replaced by a sense of suffocation and blockage. What was once a place for creation and liberation of imagination had now turned into an additional burden.
This experience confronted him with the question of “How can one escape this duality?” On one hand, there is the anxiety of the outside world, while on the other, there are the constraints within the living place. Ultimately, he found the way out by transcending his "imagination."
Imagination is a realm where voyage becomes possible; not a journey in the outside world, but an inner journey that fractures time and space, taking humanity beyond reality. In this collection, reflecting on the inner journey of man, the artist has used elements such as small ships, toy planes,
maps, toy horses, windows, and etc. to depict the movement from restriction to freedom, and suffocation to liberation.
The works on display symbolize voyage and movement; they are a reflection of a quest to find a space where imagination can provide answers to the complex state of existence.
