“Contour” is a kind of experimental representation of the city of Tehran, primarily shaped by an array of cubes and the spaces between them. These cubes confront us with different layers of materials and textures, creating new forms in perspective. This series, in turn, transitions from photography to sculpture and vice versa—a process that sometimes disrupts familiar structures and, at other times, creates new ones, as if, by moving back and forth between different mediums and materials, and grappling with form and structure, the artist has, in a way, appropriated and reproduced these cubic masses.
