Shirin Gallery is honored to unveil the exhibition of works by Ehsan Toosi titled “The Inconceivable Misery”.
Ehsan Toosi, born in 1978, is a member of the Iranian Sculptors Association and began his activity in the field of sculpture in 2002. His first exhibition took place in 2008, followed by a collection exhibited in 2009 at the Seyhon Gallery and another collection in 2015 at the Shirin Gallery. Over his 23 years of artistic activity, he has participated in numerous symposiums and group exhibitions. Some of his sculptures are installed in urban spaces in Tehran. The idea and creation of the first piece from this collection date back to a year before the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent events have so far postponed the display of this collection. In this collection, he engages in a continuous struggle with the pressures that prevail in today’s world and seeks to make others aware of the consequences of this struggle. By employing materials that defy the laws of physics in his works, he challenges their functionality and structure, aiming to target the audience’s expectations. He expresses a sense of despair and anxiety, stating that contemporary humans truly do not know how to behave and are caught in a permanent confusion and ambiguity. Naturally, they are compelled to accept the conditions of this game and must avoid any actions. Regarding his works, he says: “Today’s human, considering the vast amount of information and data they receive, thinks they know a lot, but in reality, they know nothing and are merely caught in delusion, instability, confusion. Until the end, they have only the opportunity of a single flame.
