“Emsak” emerges from a contemplation of the evolving relationship between contemporary humans and nature—a relationship that, while not entirely severed in today’s world, has undoubtedly been reshaped, distanced, and redefined. This distance, though it may evoke a sense of loss or alienation, also opens up a space for renewed reflection, fresh perspectives, and perhaps the possibility of consciously reweaving this bond.
Throughout history, nature has been a vital source of nourishment, inspiration, sustenance, and human perception. Yet, in the face of modernity, our ways of living, working, and perceiving have undergone significant transformations—consequently altering our connection to the natural world. "Emsak" approaches this shift as an opportunity for dialogue: a dialogue between past and present, between distance and closeness, between memory and longing.
The works presented in this exhibition each reflect the artists’ personal explorations of this relationship—some highlighting forgotten or overlooked aspects, others seeking beauty, stillness, or mystery that still flows beneath the surface of urban and contemporary life. These works are not necessarily calls for a return to nature, but rather attempts to rediscover and re-experience its presence within the fabric of our current existence.
"Emsak" invites viewers to engage in a renewed reflection—not merely on absence or loss, but on the emerging possibilities within this evolving relationship. Perhaps, if this distance is seen consciously, it can lead to deeper understanding, more meaningful connections, and a more empathetic way of inhabiting the world.
