FemLink-Art - 149 women video-artists from 64 countries | 10 topics = 10 videos-collages = more than 250 videos | Since 2006, the FemLink's video-collages has been welcome by more than 130 Art-Centers, Museum, Galleries... from 43 countries. | Curators : Veronique Sapin and C. M. Judge The structure is simple: one artist / one country create a short video for FemLink (2 min. maximum) around a common topic. | The videos are included in video-collages. The collage is considered itself as an artistic video work made up with singular videos. Each video takes part definitely to the collage. | Since 2005, 149 artists from 64 countries have been invited to participate to height videos-collages.

FemLink - In 2005, the visual artist and curator Veronique Sapin (France) and the intermedia artist, C.M. Judge (USA) proposed the creation of common art-works which can include women-artists from every where in the world. | Every artist aspires to universality, but women were not allowed to do so for centuries; not only were they forbidden access to creation but also to training and teaching. Either female artists were overlooked by history or those who transgressed the rules were regarded as inferior and relegated to what was derogatorily called "female art." | Today, many women feel still ostracized in too many parts of the world. As artists, they must be acknowledged - this forms a major component of the Femlink mission.

Cultural diversity is no empty slogan for Femlink, an association whose very name points to the link between female artists throughout the world, beyond nationalities and cultures. Our video collage speaks to everyone who is convinced that a work of art, using Françoise Colin’s phrase, should ‘make human sense’. Cultural diversity is the root of our video collage; its sustenance and richness. Both autonomous and singular, the works of this video collage echo the world, in their own artistic way, opening prospects, offering new views and providing possibilities. | Thus Femlink travels around the world until it can create a network which, far from imitating the Web, aims at tying real bonds between the women of the association. Such a network can live only through living connections: aesthetic connections between works and artists. We hope to bring back to life a place that benefits greatly from our differences. However the works of Femlink, far from setting themselves free from any particular cultural identification, will express, should the artist wish so, the print of their territorial and singular roots. | For a long time, aesthetics were imposed upon by boundaries and dominated by questions of limitation, exclusion, legitimacy and hierarchy. This served to defend compartmentalized territories, legitimate the boundaries kept by some, and safeguard the sovereignty of one kind of art against all the others. | Femlink was created to in opposition to speech exclusion, boundaries between the works and the world so that other views, other ways to comprehend the world might be allowed. | In order to live in a different world, a world open to others -- no matter who -- we value paying attention to other forms of expression, other relationships and other experiences. Resisting uniformity, we prefer for Femlink to convey the flow of energy between these multiple "territories." To make this dynamic multicultural dream come true, our voices are multiple, multiplying our connections to others.| Femlink wishes to gather the grand, encompassing power of culture and art to serve human values, create dialog, promote peace and acknowledgment of others. Liberating the powers of culture and art entails reinventing life; and in doing so we create change in this world, change that make our world more human.
